What Atlanta Gave Me

What Atlanta Gave Me

I've lived in enough places to know that a city changes your colours before it changes your mind. D.C. gave me structure. The years in between gave me movement. Atlanta gave me warmth — red clay, long light, a certain generosity.

You can see it in the palette I keep returning to: ochre, terracotta, cream, a green that has been sitting in the sun.

Home, it turns out, is less a location than a set of tones you stop arguing with.
